In the last few years, there has been effort from government to reform their education with sole focus on STEM. To support the education in Cambodia and align with the government vision, InSTEDD under close cooperation with Kampuchean Action to Promote Education (KAPE), Computer Programming program has been implemented in the school year 2018-2019.
The project adopted code.org curriculum that focuses on problem solving and understanding of basic coding class that allow students to work on different projects. The project is a staircase for teachers to add on to their ICT knowledge to be able to improve STEM education in public school. The first year pilot of the project with 4 New Generation School in Kandal, Kampong Cham and Phnom Penh covering total 2,435 students. With the hope of seeing the new face of ICT education in Cambodia and for the sustainability of the project, the team are currently extended collaboration with the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports in focusing more on support to schools of pedagogy.
Results: provided ToT to 13+ ICT teachers, every year 3000+ student learn to code, 6+ schools
