New Phase of the Youth Career Counselling Application: "Trey Visay"

Under the ADB grant, MoEYS has selected Kawsang to upgrade Trey Visay with the objective of increasing the number of secondary school students in 25 cities/provinces who receive career guidance and counseling via Trey Visay to at least 200,000.

New Phase of the Youth Career Counselling Application: "Trey Visay"

"Trey Visay" is a mobile application available on both Android and iOS platforms designed to help students from grades 9 to 12 better understand and plan for their university major or future career.

Background: The Trey Visay application emerged from the ICT4D incubation program of InSTEDD iLab SEA (now known as Kawsang). It was developed by InSTEDD iLab SEA and implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) and KAPE, with funding support from SPIDER. Trey Visay was launched in 2018, and after a successful pilot, the USAID project "Development Innovation" provided funding for upgrading the iOS version and scaling up the application to more public schools. Subsequently, the application was handed over to MOEYS for further expansion to all high schools nationwide.

The Vocational Orientation Department (VOD) of MoEYS is the focal department responsible for the career counseling program. They utilize the Trey Visay application to support school counselors nationwide in building and strengthening Cambodian students' skills in study planning, career planning, and soft skills development. This is done to better respond to their innate talents and the job market context in the technological age.

Under the ADB grant, MoEYS selected Kawsang to upgrade Trey Visay with the objective of increasing the number of secondary school students in 25 cities/provinces who receive career guidance and counseling via Trey Visay to at least 200,000. Additionally, the aim is to increase awareness of Trey Visay among more than 225 MoEYS staff members, including those from secondary education offices, principals, librarians, and school counselors, in order to further enhance its utilization and impact on local students.

Since the project kick-off in March 2023, the Kawsang team has been working closely with the VOD of MoEYS to design the upgraded version of Trey Visay. We anticipate completing the enhancements by September 2023, after which we will provide capacity-building training to MoEYS for application management.
